The only Australians in the competition, the Evolution of Dance All-Stars team, came fourth in their division at the Aloha Spirit International Championships in Hawaii.
Teams from the club won Australian titles in division two and three last year and sent a combined team to Hawaii entered in division three.
After finishing in the top four of the first round, they moved into the championship, where they finished a whisker behind third place.
The team and coach Alissa Mears are still in Hawaii, but mother of one of the athletes, Denise Rochfort, said she was proud of all the girls in the
competition.
“The team couldn’t be happier with their performance over the weekend and they were proud to represent Maitland, their gym and their country,” she said.
The trip cost around $4000 per athlete and each of them had to fit in fund-raising along with their four-day-a-week training schedule in the lead-up to the event.
“Most of them raised $2000 to $2500,” Ms Rochfort said.
“It was a fantastic experience for all the kids involved.”
